Eating nuts with reduced meat reduces the incidence of sugar by 22%
A study conducted by researchers from the University of Washington revealed that eating "healthy" fats in vegetable oils, nuts and fish may keep diabetes away by improving the body's regulation of sugar in the blood.
The replacement of meat and dairy products with healthy fats found in natural oils and nuts reduces the chances of developing type 2 diabetes.
The researchers analyzed 102 trials involving more than 5,000 adults, comparing diets, and found that diets high in monounsaturated fats had a beneficial effect on glycemic control.
Scientists at the research show that just a 5% change in the bad diet reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 0.1% over the long term.
"This change reduces the incidence of type 2 diabetes by 22 percent and cardiovascular disease by 6.8 percent," the researchers, led by Dr. Dariush Mozafarian, of Tufts University in Massachusetts, said.Eating nuts with reduced meat reduces the incidence of sugar by 22%
