Daily Mail: Eating omega-3 daily protects against bowel cancer by 41%
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids derived from oily fish can help reduce the risk of death from bowel cancer in patients, the Daily Mail reported.
Recent research on the Internet in the journal Jet suggests that patients with bowel cancer may benefit from increased intake of oily fish to help prolong their survival.
The omega-3 polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids (EPA), ducoshexanic acid (DHA), and DPA can inhibit tumor growth and reduce blood flow to malignant cells.
To confirm the results, researchers analyzed 121,700 patients with bowel cancer in the United States, aged 30 to 55 years.
The researchers found that those who ate diets with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids were less likely to die from the disease.
